- Prepare 1 tbsp of ghee.
- You need 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- You need Pinch of asafoetida.
- You need 1/2 of onion chopped.

- Prepare 1/4 tsp of turmeric.
- You need 1 of tomato chopped.
- It's 3/4 tsp of salt.
- It's 1/2 kg of rice, soaked 20 mins.

- It's 1/2 cup of moong dal, soaked 20 mins.

- Firstly, in a pressure cooker one tablespoon ghee and saute1 tsp jeera and pinch of hing. Continue to saute 1/2 onion till it turns translucent.now add green chilli, saute well..
- Further Add 1 tomato and saute till it turns soft and mushy. Additionally add 1/4 tsp turmeric, 3/4 tsp salt and saute. Add in half cup rice and half cup moong dal, soaked for 20 minutes..
- Saute on low flame for a minute or till moongdaal turns aromatic.pour 3 1/2 cup of water and stir well.pour 4- 5 cups of water if looking for watery consistency..
- Pressure cook for 5 whistles.Once the pressure settles mix gently..
- Finally, serve moong dal khichdi with curd or pickle..
